A couple of weeks ago, you may have noticed a tweet we posted on our Twitter account with the image of a new archway. We are excited to announce that this archway will be built at the front of campus!
The artist rendition of the archway design
The location of the archway will be at the intersection of the sidewalk along College Street and the Legacy Walk. The purpose of this archway is to help improve the campus image, especially at the front where most people visit. This will be one of the first things incoming students see at Union College. Also, freshman will pass under this archway during their C.I.R.C.L.E.S. ceremony, and senior graduates will also pass through it during their graduating ceremonies.
Going off this image, the archway will be traditional yet modern at the same time. The goal is for the archway to be completed before Inauguration week in April. So after seeing the image, what are your thoughts?

Why will there be such a big archway in such a small space? And what is the purpose of a grand archway if you can't see it from a distance? It will be 15ft across from someone's house. Isn't that a little bit weird?
ReplyDeleteIt's not as big as you think. The way it's been designed, it should fit perfectly. And most people that live along College St. are a part of the college, so they will probably appreciate it more than they find it weird. We will post a newer picture of it on our Twitter page soon, so check there to see how it will look with a background.
